KarlBAndersen1: "One time I suggested making your own on this topic and the entire forum jumped all over me for not buying them from Old Scout!
I bought a 100 feet of shock cord, some air brake line at the parts store and some cord locks and made up a zillion of my own.
I'm never out and saved a lot of money.
What ever happened to making things ourselves?"

If you want to make your own, knock yourself out. However, the original question was about buying BDBs from a longtime board member, not a How-to on making your own. Why bring it up?

Excellent!! You can never have too many BDBs.

I've never used those contraptions before. I happened to find one on a portage trail this year and used it to secure my fishing rod to the thwart. Holy @rap, that's a pretty good invention. It's an extremely useful tool for camping!!

Does anyone know about how long it takes to get Bungee Dealee Bobs after placing an online order? If they're shipped from the Twin Cities, is it possible to just pick them up rather than having to wait for delivery?

Old Scout met me at REI in Roseville so send him an email. If he can accommodate I think he will.

Yep, he was on a trip but is back now. Got everything squared away with him tonight.

I’ve learned that apparently one can never have enough gear, period!

So simple, but what a great invention! BTW, last ones I got I bought at Stone Harbor in Grand Marais last summer.

I swear, every year I do a trip I buy at least a dozen and they keep disappearing. I used my last few recently to secure paddles in the canoes when they're hung for storage, as the canoes are now too far up to reach and the paddles could shift & fall when the boats are being raised / lowered. Guess it's time to order more....

We took a guided hike in the Grand Canyon in March. the guide saw my BDBs and asked where I got them. At the end of the hike I gave him all that I had. Will be stopping by VNO in a couple weeks to replace my supply.

I ordered more that day & received my order within a few days. Very fast turnaround!

I sent an email through the Old Scout website a couple days ago and have not yet received a reply.

Scott (Old Scout) may be on a trip. He normally responds promptly. I would think his shipping times are a day or two out the door. And yes, it's possible to pick up directly from him.

I was thinking that he might be on a trip. I leave in one week and was hoping I could get a few dealee bobs before I put in. I'll keep an eye out for his response. Those things look pretty slick, and I probably haven't bought enough new gear yet for this trip to appease the tripping gods!

My last trip I bought several packages at VNO in Ely.

Where are you tripping out of? I've purchased them at VNO in Ely and Sawbill outfitters. I think I saw them at Sawtooth in Tofte? and both Stone Harbor and Superior Trading Post in Grand Marais? I'm not positive on those but I've seen them around at several places so there is some hope you can still get some if you don't connect with Old Scout before your trip.

I'm picking up a rental canoe at Sawbill Outfitters and will probably pass through Tofte on the way to Sawbill (entry is #37 - Kawishiwi Lake), so there might be several options for picking them up on the way. Thanks for the information!

It’s been a few years but last time I bought some I got them at Midwest Mountaineering, they may still stock them.

I found them at Canadian Border Outfitters on Moose, and I think they were at latourelle's also. Last time ordered it took 3-4 days to get them, but I am outside Chicago and not in MN.

That's where I've bought them before. Worth a call to see if they have them.
