I am primarily attracted to how little volume they take up in a pack and how little they weigh. Will use for backpacking and BWCA. Tent is for 2 adults and 1 child. One adult is 6'2". My current understanding: Copper Spur HV UL4 - Slightly lighter and easier to put up More headroom inside tent Papa Hubba NX 4 - Bigger vestibules and more overhang when open More stable in the wind due to lower profile Who else looked at these tents and what else is there about these 2 tents that I should know or consider? Thanks! |

Only issue we have is the door configuration in that they zip across the top down the sides with the open door laying on the ground. I prefer D type doors so I'm not climbing across the tent door every time I get in/out of the tent. (no, we do not ever wear shoes in the tent) Minor complaint but, I do think it will shorten the life of the tent due to wear and tear on the tent door. My .02 |

My .02" BA rectified this design flaw (I completely agree with your assessment) with last year's model. It is now a D-shaped door. |

The Copper Spur fabric feels lighter vs the Hubba's stouter feeling. That stout feel goes to the frame structure also, but the cost of the Hubba's stout feel is more weight. Coper Spur is more breezy due to the mesh, the Hubba may be a bit warmer. Either is a good choice, if it was mine to make it would be the Hubba, $50 less and stronger. But my bias is more towards the colder season use. butthead |
