In the trip planning board there was a post for a new app that will let you create a packing list. That reminded me that I created a packing list for the BWCA earlier this year on lighterpack.com and I actually took the time to weight everything. Some of it was quite eye opening.

I had intended to post the link here so that it could be useful to others if they are new to BWCA trips but never did. I left the link in the previous post but thought a dedicated post here in the gear forum would be worthwhile.

My advice to anyone creating a packing list for the first time is to look at several sources. Outfitter packing lists are a great place to start. Overtime we have incorporated tons of ideas picked up from this forum, other packing lists, YouTube, boundary waters journal, experience from each trip, backpacking and canoe trip articles/blog posts....

Hope this is helpful to someone in the future.

Too funny! Good catch. At some point I must have accidently changed it from 247 g to 247 oz.

Maybe I don't change it and I can slip 10 lbs of extra stuff in her pack and she won't know the difference. :)

No gear list.
That ruins the surprise when I open my pack.
