I previously had a Vexilar AA battery powered portable self contained fish finder that we used in the Quetico for years. The transducer had a suction cup attached that could be placed so easily on the outside of the canoe. It was a tremendously simple and effective unit. Finally this unit is not functional and I need to replace it. The closest thing I can find is the Garmin Striker 4. The battery Is not integrated into the machine and is a large 12 volt external battery that is not included with the unit and is a separate purchase. The transducer does not have a suction cup included and the one Garmin has for sale is not specifically made for this transducer and is not included with the unit either. Can anyone recommend a replacement for the Vexilar unit I had previously or recommended another product that would meet those same requirements?
Thank you,
Michael Chrisian

I have a Hawkeye Fishtrax 1C. It is a small handheld unit that runs on 4 AA batteries . You can get a suction cup mount for the transducer and other accessories. It has a threaded camera type mounting hole it. It has worked good for me and doesn’t weigh much and packs in a small case.

Ditto on the Fishtrax 1C. Affordable, runs on batteries, and compact. I paired it with a small RAM mount and Scotty gunnel clamp and transducer arm that made for easy on/off with rental canoes or during full travel days and easy in/out while fishing or portaging on day trips. Haven't tried the suction cup but may give it a whirl as well. Hawkeye offers a bundle that includes the transducer arm, but you need to still add the gunnel clamp and RAM mount.
