We won't even talk about my other hobbies. I want to take up sailing but my wife doesn't think it's a good idea. |

quote rlhedlund: "I feel better now knowing I am not alone. :) rl, We are investing..... in the 401K of "Life's Adventures" Isn't this a fun little thread? @ WCD, I to like to be able to have some "stuff" to help some folks out who are going and maybe less fortunate. It helps them to be able to use the stuff. SunCatcher |

After 40 years of camping, backpacking and now BW canoeing, I need to get rid of some of this stuff, but I have come to the realization, I am a camping gear "Hoarder". How many gear hoarders are out there? 3 canoes presently (have sold 3 over the years) 8 paddles 9 sleeping bags 6 air-type mattresses 2 closed-cell mattresses 3 egg-crate mattresses 7 stoves only 2 water filters 4 cook sets 10 backpacks 2 hammocks 5 tents 3 Silva Ranger compasses 1 GPS Maps and more maps 4 headlamps ??? flashlights 4 first aid kits 3 tyvek tarps various sizes 2 real tarps 8 pr boots tons of outer and under wear my justification is that we have 4 grown children who camp and borrow my gear. We also go on an annual trek in the winter with friends, nieces, nephews, etc. Many of the newbies have no gear, hence, the outfitter status. Not sure if these count: 1 bass boat w/ associated gear 1 5th wheel camper trailer w/ associated gear |

I believe I am officially hobby gear poor... What do I need next? ;-) And what makes it funny is that it is basically just the wife and I, although a couple of the kids might go paddling on local streams once or twice a year. Bruce |

quote overthehill: "Me too. I can hardly pass up a yard/estate sale with 'gear/tool goodies' in it. If I see something cool on super clearance I usually grab it. It has been said that I'd buy a horse turd at a dime on the dollar." That's funny OTH. I know what you mean. If I was to list both my tripping and fishing gear, it would be a long list. |

It really hurt when I recently let go of my fifth kayak ... the one with three holes in the bottom. Gave it to some kids to use as a parade float. |
