buz	09/08/2011 09:53AM   Sling seats I have used have metal U shaped clamps that go over gunnels, and then rope/webbing that is adjustable connected to nylon seat from both sides. Not sure who makes them, but they are easy to take down and are very packable, unlike the others in this thread. Different concept than what has been shown
brynfrd	09/08/2011 10:32AM   We also use the spring creek yoke/seat. very good design but if you are borrowing that canoe maybe the clamp seat would be better from spring creek.

centroid	09/06/2011 11:07PM   We might have three people on our trip. Normally, we would rent a big kevlar for about $300 for the week and be done with it. But we might be able to borrow a reg. size canoe, kevlar and save the 300. Is there a way to make a third seat for the middle person ? Do they make a clamp on one where you can rent ? We've gone with the middle person sitting on a pack before. Its real cramped and not too fun after a while.

fishfry	09/07/2011 03:07AM   When are you going up and how much does the third person weight? I have a nylon sling style seat that just hangs on the side of the canoe, we use it on our cedar strip and aluminum canoe.
tonyyarusso	09/06/2011 11:31PM   I have seen a few like that, of varying comfort levels. For instance, Wenonah Old Town And of course there are the Crazy Creek style chairs as well.
TuscaroraBorealis	09/07/2011 08:25AM   I have this one. I also use it for converting my canoe to a solo. I have used it on occassion for a third person. I thinks it works pretty well. Of course you lose alot of storage space; but, you will no matter what when you have a third.
buz	09/07/2011 08:50AM   we have used a sling style seat, easy to remove/put on, but not real comfy for adults, kids fine with it.

With due care better than a pack I suppose, but if you are not sitting on a pack, won't the canoe be even more cramped?
centroid	09/07/2011 08:55AM   can you describe what the sling style seat is like ? I have a trip plan next year with kids so this might come in handy.
Frenchy19	09/07/2011 03:28PM   I have this Spring Creek seat/yoke. My daughters' say it's very comfortable, and I find it much more comfortable that a traditional wooden yoke with the rock hard pads. The kids sit in it while paddling, then you simply turn it up-side-down to create the yoke. Spring Creek Seat/Yoke
