Canoe42	02/25/2015 04:33PM   I took some sheet metal for duct work and cut a piece 12"x24". Riveted into a cylinder, and fits perfectly into sack. Just in case. Added weight is minimal.

For those thinking about making one from an airbag, just remember that you'll have to sew the seams with the proper Spectra thread, which I believe was the weak point in previous models that were not "approved" by IGBC. You'll probably need to pay attention to thread count, etc. And you'll need to use cord of the same strength. It will only be as strong as its weakest link. Otherwise, you'll just have a glorified stuff sack, rather than something like the IGBC approved Ursack.

But this must be done over the phone. This is how I bought my Ursack and liner. I was told the owner will come in and look at the revenue and tells the employees we're going to have 20% off sale in a couple days.

boonie	02/27/2015 07:47AM   Thanks for the link, JoshP. It doesn't claim to be "bear resistant" like the Ursack, just a "chew-proof" bag. It seems aimed more at keeping mice out in AT shelters (?). He does note it's never been tested by a bear. It seems it could be a good, cheap, lightweight alternative for some uses, but don't think it should be considered equivalent to the approved Ursack.
