Didn't know Hovland was in Holland. :)

quote lundojam: "We just drove up to MacFarland yesterday to have a look around. We didn't time it. It is a pretty good dirt road, but it is a dirt road. Some smooth stretches, some erosion problem spots, some washboard. I would say count on a 30 mph average.

Side note: Had a FANTASTIC patty melt at the general store in Hovland. The pizza looked and smelled great, too."
You are in Gods country Lundo , I love Mc Farland Lake.

Thanks much for the input and suggestions. Thank you also lundojam for noting the Holland general store. Much appreciated.

Have not been down the Arrowhead Trail before. How is its condition? Is it reasonable to expect doing 40 mph on it? Can I expect to get from Hovland to the landing at Little John in 30 minutes?

you could make that drive in 1/2 hour provided there are no potholes or culvert issues. don't plan to drive 40. there is pavement for the first mile or so, then gravel. it's quite a pretty drive, winding at times. there could be other vehicle traffic and animal traffic! leave hovland earlier if you have any qualms about getting to the landing at the time you planned.

I would allow at least 45 minutes for the drive. It tends to washboard and potholes are not unusual. Your vehicle will thank you for your patience.
