Does anyone have any updated information on how to get a tow across Vermilion? Moccasin Point Marina does not do it anymore. They gave me the name of Lonnie Johnson but I don't know if the number I have still works so I am curious as to what other people might have in mind. Thank you.

The route to the portage crosses some big water that can produce some huge waves. If you start at daylight, which I would if I were you guys it is "usually" fairly calm. Also the boaters don't seem to care about slowing down for canoes. I would recommend getting the tow. It can be a dangerous crossing sometimes.

First of all, Welcome to the Board!!
Check the outfitter list on the top of the page or call, Voyageur North Outfitters. If they don't offer services - they will know who does. Or, call TGO (The Great Outdoors) bait shop in Ely. He knows most everything about the area.
