I was in Snowbank late September/early October a few years ago, just because the weather was very nice and I figured it might be my last trip for the year.


By the end of our first day, *every* single campsite was taken on Parent, Disappointment, and Ahsub Lakes (we know because groups paddled up to our site said as much). We didn't do the loop to Lake One, and I wouldn't expect our experience to be the same as yours, but I was very surprised to see so many people that time of year. Just my .02.

Snowbank can get windy easily and have whitcaps often - you might check out going across from the landing to Parent and Dissapointment and then on Ahsub and the small lakes.


The site on the point on Kiana is quite nice - in the busy season we seldom get to stay there - it is almost always taken. (tall white pines + beach "cove' area) It is about half way for your lay-over. If you need to stop before that - check the north site on the island in Ima. The Ima site is a favorite. Thomas also has a good site in the north end of the penninsula just before the Kiana portage.

Just curious about crowds on snow bank to lake one last week in September first week of October. I have already booked through the outfitter but I'm reading lot of trip reports indicating how crowded this route can be. I told the outfitter I wanted to void crowds and they strongly recommend this route.... based on the groups experience, that late in the year you all think I'll see many other groups?

Also looking for recommendations on the best areas on this route to plan layover days on. This is a 7 day trip.

Anything I need to be sure and not miss?

You might see a couple groups around entry to first postage. Good chance you won't see anyone two portages in. Lots of nice loops out of here.

Changed "postage" to "portages". Darn spell check.

That's what I was hoping to hear. Thanks for the info folks, can't wait tell September!
