We will be coming from the cities. I have a trailer so pick up location doesn't matter. We are just short a couple canoes this year. I'll try to call around some more. I was hoping somewhere in Duluth would be possible because we have to be there by 9 to get the permit.

Seems like outfitters drop canoes off and pick them up unattended at the various entry points all the time so I would think you could arrange something pretty easily as long as you left a deposit on a credit card over the phone. I have used Spirit of the Wilderness in Ely many times and actually bought a couple canoes from them. My guess is they would accommodate you.

Get your canoe, permit and stay at Voyageur North or Spirit of the Wilderness in Ely. I have arrived late and left early - they have both been very helpful.

If you don't have a regular outfitter in the area, I think best to call some, explain the situation, and see if you can pick up late.

With EP 14 you'd be better off not having to go to Ely but imagine that would incur a shuttle fee.

We always like to camp close to our EP to let us get an early start. Normally this means getting the permit the night before, normally in Duluth. This year we need to rent a canoe but will probably get to Ely later, like 9 or 10 pm. Is there any outfitters that have options for late night pick ups? Last year sawtooth in Tofte just left them out for us. Anything similar in Ely?
