Your closest BWCA entry would probably be at Sawbill - out of Tofte.

yes that would be the closest drive from Tettegouche.
And you can fish on Sawbill without having to portage kayaks.
Check with the folks at Sawbill Canoe Outfitters about fishing on the lake. I hear there are walleye on the lake, esp in the north end. And a lot of people just pass through on their way to other lakes so it doesn't get fished a lot.

Are the kayaks portageable? That would be key in knowing how far out we can send you.

My girlfriend and I are staying at Tettegouch for 8 days. We are coming up to the BWCA for a day trip. We will have our kayaks, and are looking for a good place to fish. I don't have any particular species I am looking for, just a fun day. I am a very avid angler, just looking for a little exploring in a new area. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! We will be up next week...

Pick an entry lake without portages - Sawbill, Kawishiwi, Brule, Seagull, Saganaga, etc. I don't know anything about the fishing in those, but check with the guys in the fishing forum.
