Hi,
We are entering EP32 and had thought of going through Clearwater to Lake Two area through the portage from Clearwater Lake to Rock Island Lake. I've seen several old posts (2012, 2014) about this portage being in the PMA and not being maintained. Anyone have any experience with this portage in the last two years? My Fischer and Mackenzie maps don't show the portage but the online planner and the region Fischer maps show the portage. Thanks for any guidance or recent experiences.

The "kids" were checking out that area this past spring. It is still pretty tough going to get to or from Rock Island and Clearwater. Pretty much bushwacking! Rock Island to Lake Two was not well maintained before the fire and now is not at all maintained - so - it is almost impassible.
Oh and my "kids" are 40 year old experienced BWCA travelers.

I took a look at the portage a while back and decided it was not worth the attempt. Is it passable? I dunno....I'd say no, but then again, if you're nuts, what *can't* you do? :)

Thanks for the reply! I appreciate the detail and timeliness and your humor.
My "kids" are almost there. This supports what we were thinking. Can't have gotten much better if it hasn't been maintained.
