EP 50 (Cross Bay) to Long Island was not a problem. Portages were easy from what I recall, just remember that the portage from Ham into Cross Bay is incorrectly marked on the map. It's not by the creek but in the little bay just to the west.

Going from Long Island to Omega was much more challenging. Rocky and muddy portages and The Wall was bad. Muskeg to Kiskadinna had everything bad you could imagine a portage having.

Most of the small portages from Long Island to Frost could be done by pulling over the beaver dams. Good fishing in Frost, highly recommended.

We made it to Frost Lake but later than we wanted so we never checked out the river. Although to be honest, I was also having too much fun catching northern near that big boulder...

Water levels in Frost were high, nearly the same as what I remember from my June trip to the same area 4 years ago. Hopefully someone else can chime in before your trip.

Any surprises or items of note as you traveled to long island? pretty clear portages this time of year i'd guess.

Thanks for taking the time to follow up. Hopefully levels stay up until our trip, and make the Frost more of a paddle than a drag!

Going to be on Long Island Lake tomorrow with a day trip down to Frost the day after that. I think we are planning to paddle a bit up the river, I'll report back on Monday.

That would be appreciated!

Any recent travelers do this route from Ham to Tuscarora? Doing it in September, curious what water levels are. Been off the site for last year and a half, so forgive me if its been talked about lately! Northern WI is experiencing no shortage of wet this year, curious if the same up there.
