a truly great time of year where weather changes quickly and we are teased by a warm sun and cold east winds of march. this morning i seam sealed my neos over boots, and center of my ccs tarp, ( which had a small drip). my mid may solo will be here before i know it, and i am thinking of it daily. at 62, with 40 + trips, the passion is very much alive. thanks for reading, hope u share the same! here's to a great paddling season to all. |

I was supposed to be backpacking today at Red River Gorge in Kentucky with a group of Boy Scouts who will be heading to Philmont this summer. We decided to cancel. Not because we would have been uncomfortable (which we would have been with all types of precipitation in temps in the mid 30's all day). They could have safely handled it. However, the goal of the trip was training for skills they will need at Philmont this summer. That would have been difficult given the weather. So, I have to wait a bit longer (and anticipate) my first backpacking trip of the year. :-) |

I am “old fart” like you. I turn 64 this year ... yikes . I have made a trip to Quetico every year but one since 1979 and the anticipation juices are still flowing after all these years. June can’t come soon enough. |
