LOTS of snow up there this year, but pretty mild temps and shallow frost lines mean the ground will probably accept more water earlier and lots of snow will melt and runoff before the big melt. I think it all hinges on early April rain, because that's really what messed things up last year. This far into Feb with temps in the mid 30s (40s here in Duluth over the weekend), we would have to have a hell of a snowy/cold March to create flooding issues like last year. We've lost almost a foot of snowpack in Duluth and probably will lose quite a bit more this weekend. Just my $0.02.. I'm not a scientist but it sure would be nice to not have my basement flood again this Spring. |

Here is the 3 month precipitation outlook. Not very remarkable. Here is the three month temperature outlook. I have two, no, three comments: 1.Thank you Gravelroad for sharing. I apologize for being so opinionated. 2. I (me personally) hate outlooks because they are usually wrong and people should not make any plans or hopes based on them. 3. The outlook maps from the Gubment don’t show anything that would indicate anything more than a normal late winter/ early spring. 4….. Local forecasters predicted high snow amounts (we did but only in Dec.) and a frigid winter. Total yawn. Mild all winter. Above average temps. 6…. Use a weather rock to determine weather and not Gubment workers. Love, Tom |

Thanks for the information! Actually have had some melting the past few days around Ely, and moderate Temps (30's) predicted for a least the next week or so. Also,I don't think we have/will achieve the same ice thickness as last year? But, still got over a month of 'official' winter so, we shall see what March & April have in store for us. |
