Call your outfitter. I bet they would help you.

I would think so too If they have vans and do shuttles to EP's, one would think they could shuttle from Ely airport back to the outfitter for a comparable charge.

I'm not saying this is a great plan. One guy is driving up in a miata. A few of the others own small GA planes. Logistics, the one seat/trunk of the car we have just won't work for a people/gear shuffle.

The canoe rental would be from the outfitter. I'll call them and see what they can do.

Got a group that are considering flying into Ely. Looking for recommendations for a car rental or shuttle service in the area that might work with something like that. We've mostly driven, which sorts the transport aspect. (The ones that are looking to drive, also have a miata, so... a big group is still an issue even with one car)

Thoughts? I've used some shuttles on the Gunflint side, but not Ely. I assume Uber is likely not going to be a thing.

You're going tripping with fellows who travel to Ely in a Miata??

Where do they even fit a paddle?

I'd be shocked if your outfitter can't help. Several of them offer (paid) shuttle services to Duluth airport, and nearly all of them offer free shuttle services to the EP's close to town, and the run to Ely Municipal is about the same distance.

If yours can't help, check with one of the others, I'd guess they'd be happy to help out for a nominal fee, even if you aren't using their outfitting services.

I forgot to mention talk to Jim at the Ely airport. He could probably help you out with options too. 218-365-5600
