Happy to report the canoe was safely stored thanks to jwmiller39! Thanks all for the responses to this thread, it speaks to the depth of the great BWCA community.

West Pioneer, just west of Howard Gnesen. Hey neighbor!

If you store a canoe in the woods (at your second entry point) and no ones around to see it, does it make a sound?

He only needs storage for five days. Seems like someone in the Duluth / Superior area would have a garage or storage shed that would work for that short amount of time. I'd do it if I lived in the area.

Yes, it affects the distance and direction small sounds travel in its vicinity. It can also create unnecessary and unexpected hindrances for native species traveling through their environment. An unattended canoe is human trash no matter the intention to retrieve it. Do as OP desires, find responsible storage.

SuperPlanetMan: "Happy paddling season everyone!
I have found myself needing to drive to Chicago in between two trips to the BWCA (one in late May, the other in mid-June). I am looking for a place to securely store my canoe for about five days so that I don't have to drive it down and back.
Does anybody have a recommendation for short term canoe storage in Duluth or up the north shore? Thanks all. "
I’m straight north of downtown Duluth about 20 min. You’re more than welcome to stash it at my place if needed. I may or may not be around depending on your exact dates but I live out in the woods so it’d be more than safe. Send me an email if interested.
