I read your kind post and I thought I would reply. I made it!! Out 37 days/about 400 miles as planned. My route started at Vemillion Lake on May 26 . . . paddled north on the Little Indian Sioux River to Lac la Croix and then followed the border to Prairie Portage where I was resupplied (Voyageur North, Ely) on day 10. Then, into the Quetico through the Man Chain and Sagaganons. Went west to McKeun and south to Louisa. From there, north on Agnes to Have a Smoke Portage, Splitrock Falls, Chatterton, down Sturgeon and the Maligne and back west on LlCroix to the Namakan. Followed that to the Quetico River, then east on Beaverhouse, Quetico, and eventually Pickerel and French Lakes. Paddled the French and Baptism Rivers and eventually to the two very long portages in and out of Cache Lake. From there McKenzie and Kawnipi and back to Agnes. Went out this time through the "S" chain and North Bay on Basswood to Prairie. Good trip. Weather a little windy and cold. Good fishing. What do I eat? Well, a fair amount of fish. Some of my foods are . . . Breakfast: granola/hot cereal/bisquits/hot chocolate/coffee. Lunch: peanuts/power bar/dried fruit/chocolate/jerky Dinner: bagged tuna/chicken/salmon/rice/gravy/soup/chocolate. There's a little more, but I think you folks get the picture. Nice to meet you Gary. Yes, I enjoyed our conversation. My best, Scott Sorenson |
