1- Does the area of Sagnonagons north of Dead Mans Portage have a name? Im wondering how the campsites are lined up to the north, most of which are on islands. Are they decent? Also how is the fishing in this area? 2. Is there anyone who would be willing to share info about Wet Lake North West of Saganagons? We have no info about the sites here or the fishing other than it can have a good pike bite. Thanks so much, planning our 1st trip up the falls chain (4 men) and want to spend our 1st night in one of these areas and our last night at the other coming back out after 4 nights on Kawnipi. Thanks so much -Matt |

Best pike fishing we ever had was just under Kenneybas Falls. |

As far as the campsites just north of dead mans portage, on the little cluster of islands, they're plenty useable but I didn't think they worth writing home about, and certainly not what I would classify as five star sites. We spent our first night and last night on the same site, but didn't fish that area. Can't offer up anything about Wet Lake, other than that was where I had my one and only bear sighting back in 1980 when my dad took me up there for the first time. Sucker sat right right down on his rear end at the portage landing looking at us a few feet off shore and wouldn't move even though we were yelling at him. He finally got bored with us and walked off after about five minutes. That was probably a dangerous bear, ha ha. |
