Went in on the 19th with Jim as outfitter, and yes, he stated he is retiring... Time to let some of the "young folks" run it. I think he is awesome and he will be missed...

Nice guy, I did a trip up there a few years ago and he was the guy who went over our route with us. I imagine he'll get to do a lot more tripping/fishing himself now!

We first used Canoe Canada in 1978 and have met Jim several times. He has helped us with several things after we started self outfitting. This July we needed a used aluminum canoe for our camp that is located five miles from the Quetico. He sold one of his used Alumacraft canoes. He was as always very knowledgeable, fair and enjoyable to work with. He will be greatly missed.

Got the CC newsletter yesterday with a blurb from Jim written Sept. 10 saying he's retiring, so now I believe it! Will miss many things about dealing with Jim, positive and negative. --Goose

First trip I ever took in 1981 was through Canoe Canada. While talking to Jim I found out he was from the same town I currently live in in Illinois. Very knowledgable guy. Planned many a trip for us.

I have known Jimmy for over 25 years and consider him a good friend.
Together we have planned my trips each year and for the last 17 years since I retired, he and Canoe Canada have been instrumental in making my 3 week solo trips a success. When you're going on such long trips it's really important that you are well and completely outfitted. While I don't always agree with Jim's opinion I always respect them. He & I enjoyed many laughs together and we have always loved and respected the Park. I know I for one will sorely miss Jim's companionship and advice. He has been a true asset in making Quetico what it is today.

In 2014, I went back to Quetico fifty years after a 28 day outward bound trip, selected Canoe Canada to outfit based on internet research and the detailed responses Jim Clark sent me to inquiries, went in for a week with my daughter (grown) and fiance for a week, and repeated this year with the addition of my brother. Route planning was via Jim. Gruff, curmudgeon,, funny, opinionated (in an informative way though), the two trips were different and the routes and information were invaluable and allowed us to do what we'd hoped and more. I can't imagine next year's trip without the planning session with him The kids dubbed him 'Yoda Jim" Gladly he did not suffer me, but suffer me he did (he liked the kids, I guess). A huge loss, but we should all wish him only the best for many years to come

There are probably quite a few people who have met Jim at Canoe Canada on here. Just found he has retired. Great guy with an amazing wealth of knowledge. Big thanks to him for all he has done for the park & for the great service he has given.

Yep--Enjoyed talking to him--his enthusiasm was boundless (although he had a reputation for not suffering fools gladly).

Funny, he was "working" when we went through CC September 2-10.
Didn't say anything about "retiring" and I've known him since 1995. Jim actually works for Jeremy Dickson (Jim's former partner Bud's son) who owns the whole works...canoe and fly-in operations. Jeremy "runs" the fly-ins and Jim "runs" the canoe trips. --Goose
