OK, fine! I lied. Quetico is not fished out. From Stanton Bay, you have many options for a trip of 6 days. How much portaging are you willing to take and still have time to fish some really good lakes, even in August? Answer that question and we can narrow down your options. Given a 6-day limit, you'll want some lakes that are less affected by potential winds....

Portaging is no big deal but we don't want more than two or three travel days. Looking to relax and fish more than travel. Thanks Pineknot

Actually, I don't think it called fishing in Woodland Caribou. Fishing implies some level of effort and skill, not essential requirements in WCPP. Just don't expect to find many locations with smallies and on occasion, the laker and walleye populations are in separate river/drainage systems.

And it's comments like these that have resulted in Quetico being all fished out and most folks going back to the BWCA!! :-)

Always went in to BWCA through Ely. Usually travel 7-8 hrs then base camp and fish. Wondering about trying the Q for the first time. Talked to Atikokan outfitters about Stanton Bay entry and heading in to Rawn and Buckingham area to base. Any opinions? Would the fishing be marginally any better than what we've experienced in the BWCA? Looking at August 15 entry. Five/six day trip. Thanks

I've been to both the BWCA and Quetico many times each and my observation is that the fishing is definitely better in the Quetico. You do have to adjust to barbless hooks and no live bait, but that hasn't changed or dampened my feeling.
Your route idea should be a nice one. Pickerel Lake is really cool and you'll have a nice long paddle down to Rawn Lake area with like zero portaging! :)

Pickerel lake great fishing but can be tremendous winds or waves.

In two trips to the BWCA I've caught no fish at all. In eight trips to Ontario, mostly the Quetico, I've caught a fair number each trip. It's far easier in Ontario because there's only a fraction of the fishing pressure. One tenth or less the number of canoeists. Try Woodland Caribou sometime!!!
