Ron, great photo of you and Nathan back in the Quetico. Plus the same blue bowls!

That's what happens when the beaver market crashes...time to trap a few more.

Eyedocron: When were you at Rawn and Narrows?

In the park Aug 14-19th, plus driving time at each end. Days in the upper 70's, nights in the 50's, never had to put on a poncho, and very few bugs until after dark. Great!

Too bad you have missed a couple of years now, but it is a long way to travel.

My wife and I just got back from doing the B Chain loop and came up thru Deux Rivieres. If any of you are going to be going thru there beware, as the water level is extremely low. First off we had a difficult time finding where to get in it as there was a lot of grass growth at the mouth on Sturgeon. Then the lower 1/3 of it is really low water where we had to scull or paddle sideways to get thru. There is only about 6 inches of water there. You will then have to deal with 4 beaver dams. One is low and can be paddled over with some slight difficulty. Two of them have portage on the East side of the river that are not too bad. The one farthest up river is the worst as there is no portage on the shore and the dam itself is very narrow. I had to have my wife stand on a large log that was floating and use a couple of sticks she had found to use as hiking sticks to balance herself while I pulled the canoe up and over.

Did you by chance fish the B Chain? If so, wondering how you did?

That's pretty normal for this time of year. I've done it late summer and it can be a workout.

It's not due to low water levels from lack of rain but from the beaver dams according to the office .

Nasty beavers. You'd think they belonged there. When you and I were there two years ago, we had only one easy beaver dam pull over. Glad you and your wife had a good trip. This year we had great fishing in Pickerel Narrows and at Rawn Lake.
