Great article that makes me think as I see 50 approaching next year.
Here's a link to the archived article.

What an excellent article. There's a little bit of every veteran paddler in that story.
And I really like the way in which he wrote it. "At night, when the Big Dipper is cradled in the arms of the jack pine..." Simply poetic. Wow.
Thank you for sharing.

Wow! Nice article about brought tears. My first trip was exactly 50 tears ago and this August was my 25th trip. Hopefully a few more yet to come.

I also shared it with the "Old Guys" I trip with every year, ages 57 to 68. Also with what I consider to be the "Boys" group I go with every year, ages 42 to 50. Both groups loved the read. Thanks again

A great writer. I was pleased to meet him one year at Saganaga Lake landing...

I've enough gray on my chin to appreciate the article. Thanks Sam. I hope to achieve enough trips to pass along my love of this place to all of my children. As we all know, nothings promised.

Great piece. I feel my time dwindling and I too want to go under I'm gone.
