I took some wild rice/brown rice mix for the first time and it turned out great. First, I soaked the wild rice for a couple of hours and drained it before cooking it. After it had been boiling for about 10 minutes I added about 1/3 the volume of brown rice to the boil. After the rice blend had fully cooked I drained the water off and put the blended rice in the dehydrator. The rice reconstitutes very quickly and can be reheated in about 5 minutes.

Just a note that I have found cooked wild rice in BWCA acceptable packages at "Fall River Wild Rice." Find it on Amazon and it is very affordable and ready to pack into the Canoe Country without the long cooking time. Top rated by me and my crew! Good paddling!

I’ll cook off wild rice in the home stove, rinsing it regularly to remove the funk, and then dehydrate it. Reconstituting is very quick. Not unlike minute rice… well maybe 15 minute Wild Rice.
