I would say two fish per guy. I always eat more when I'm camping.

WE didn't bring nearly enough food when we went because we were planning on fish to feed the two of us, didn't catch any except on perch...You need to catch fish to feed people LOL

Using an average size of a 16" walleye I plan on 1.5 fish per guy. Add in a side dish and it works out pretty good.

Two walleyes per man with a decent side dish, maybe even some bannock or something similar, should feed you like kings. Adding a bass or northern pike (or two) certainly won't hurt either.

Many times on my earlier trips we ran out of food because we planned on eating fish. But the fish did not want to be caught. Now we always bring too much food. But I like to eat good now and you burn a lot of calories up there. So I would not count on fish to feed your group, however hunger is a great motivater to catch fish. Maybe have one guy get a different license and split the cost among your group. Then you can keep a bigger fish and feed more people.

I am going to Quetico in September for the first time in years, and bringing along three other men I work with who have never been there. We are all just getting the 8-day conservation licenses, which if I recall, only allows us to keep two walleyes per person under 18 inches. Please correct me if I'm wrong on that.
The more I think about it, if I'm really hungry, I can easily eat more than two walleyes of that size in one meal. I didn't get to 6'3", 260 pounds by snacking lightly. Although I'm the biggest in my group, those guys will be no less hungry. To come up with eight walleyes for our group might even be a tall order in changing conditions in September. I'll probably have to throw in some bass and pike as well.
My question of you folks, is how many fish of the legal size limit are required to feed you and/or your groups, so I can get an idea of what is enough. I don't want to kill more than we need, but I don't want all of us standing around when the smoke clears, wondering what else there is to eat, either. Thanks in advance.

I have always figured about 1 fish per person on a trip. For a larger group, maybe a couple of extras, but for the most part, 1 fish per person.

I agree with others saying one fish per person. You will be having other sides with the meal.
