I love these potatoes.

Funny story-
My sister, we call her "Betty No Bake" because she has trouble boiling water most of the time. However last Christmas she was in charge of making potatoes for brunch. One thing that she does make really well is " blow$hit" potatoes, you know the ones with all the butter, cheese, cream cheese and sour cream...

Any how this year she shows up to Christmas Brunch with 5 small carton of these Hungry Jack Potatoes. Most of us thought she had to much egg nog already, but it they were great, easy to make and tasted REALLY good.

We use them all the time now, not just for camping.

Question..did you measure the liquid without the potatoes in the carton or did you pour the water in & pour it out again to measure with the potatoes in the carton? The volume of the potatoes would make a difference...just asking, I also want to lose the carton next trip. Thanks!

And thanks to others for the hamburger & corned beef ideas. Onions, green peppers, extra cheese...ketchup on the side. How gourmet can you get? Awesome.

After reading this post, I stumbled across these cartoned hash browns at my local SuperOne grocery here in Duluth. I snatched up a few cartons for our mid-March Lake Trout fishing expedition

The cheeseburger hash is a good dinner or breakfast.

Also try adding the pouch corned beef to the regular style and you have some decent corned beef hash as well.

I posted a recipe using them in the Breakfast section.

We eat them at home all the time too. I love them.

I've been using those hash browns now for several years. They are great. I even use them at home.

For fried potatoes, I buy a box of generic potatoes Au gratin, throw away the flavor pack, re-hydrate the potatoes and fry them with onions. Awesome.

I've used these for a couple years now. They turn out nice and crispy. Be sure to rehydrate them enough, from experience:)

That's interesting. I was just talking with my partner about dehydrating potatoes for hash-browns and wondering how they would turn out. This sounds easier.

Yes, these are very good and easy to make. I buy them in a 8 pack at Costco.

We have used these, they are really good and make a pound of potatoes. Add hot water to the line on the box, let sit for 11-12 minutes, then fry in a pan till crispy. They have a cheesy version too. Found at Walmart & local grocery stores. I dehydrate my own meals, for the price and convenience you can't beat it. Check their recipe section for some ideas too.

Yep great stuff. I've been using them for a couple of years as well. Nice addition to fish or the first night meal of steak.

I bring enough to make with every breakfast. I also cube up some bacon flavored spam and mix in.

Tried these on our recent trip. They come in a small milk carton looking container that you fill with warm water. They rehydrate in 12 minutes and are then ready to fry. As a side dish to fried walleye, they were pretty tastey! One carton makes two generous portions.

I took a two cup liquid measuring cup and poured my hot water into the carton and I had 1/3 of a cup left over.

Edit: Poured the water into the the hashbrowns, not empty container.

I love the stuff. Before a trip I'll go to my local deli and ask them to slice some corned beef extra thick. I trip any fat, dice it up and put it in the dehydrator. I'll then hydrate the hungry jack, rehydrate the corned beef for a few hours, throw in some dehydrated veggies too and it makes an excellent meal.
