I have the GSI java press I have used for a couple years. This year I picked up the French press attachment for my jet boil in an effort to cut down on space. I love both of them and real coffee is a must for me.

For me, the weight of a percolating coffee pot is well worth it! It seems that most of my trips revolve around the campfire and the coffee pot, so well worth the weight and space!

I used to use the coffee bags, but have found that the VIA is better and simpler. I also use the Folgers brand as well as VIA - it's a little cheaper and good too.

We like the Folger tea bag coffees because of light weight, cost and easy to prepare. But if you like a dark rich brew quick and easy but not cheap. Try the Starbucks VIA microground coffees.

I have to agree with the Starbucks Via coffee. First time I had it was the last trip in June and it was great.

My wife and I both the Starbucks Via packets very easy to prepare and great tasting. We use them a lot on backpacking trips.

Totally agree on the percolator! Nothing beats the taste of percolated coffee! I usually buy an assortment of different flavor packs from Super One that are pre-made for a pot. Maybe Camerons? It's like 3 packs for $3.00, I think. You can easily fit them inside the percolator for transport.
I may have to try the Starbucks VIA in the future, thanks for the tip :)

x3 for me! You can make it however dark or light you like it. And there is always a pot brewing!

Agree. One of my night before stops is Caribou for coarse ground coffee for the press.
