Sure, pre-packaged freeze dried meals are convenient to pack and prepare, but in my opinion, lead to a boring meal plan. Each time I’m camping, I try to come up with one or two trophy items – a unique taste that gets your mouth watering just knowing it’s in your pack. A no-bake cheesecake has often done the trick in the past.

But next time, here’s what I’m thinking: a whole pineapple. It’s tough enough to withstand packing, and it’s juicy, real fruit. It’s a bit heavy and bulky, but I bet three or four days into the trip, our group will go crazy for it. I am curious what other exciting trophy foods others bring?
