Yes, you can dehydrate hash browns right from the freezer onto your dehydrator. But why would you when there are Hungry Man hash browns in the box already dehydrated and spiced? Makes a full 1 lb of potatoes, cheesy version is soooo good. Almost too much food for 2 people with bacon & eggs. Almost.

How do I do hash browns in BW? Do I dry the frozen precompiled from a bag? Thank you.

We've simply done the hash browns in the box. They haven't always been well-received at meal time so we've left them off the grocery list the past couple of years.

Not sure what kind you have used, but my canoeing partners love the boxed hashbrowns from the grocery store. In fact, my family eats them at home! We can find big boxes of hashbrowns that need to be rehydrated that are enough for several meals. We always have a box in the cupboard at home.

I've found the hungry jacks in a carton if rehydrated well are pretty decent when cooked up in some bacon grease or butter - or ghee. A little bulk but low weight.

Hungry Jack. Better than fresh. Also like the cheesy one.

and another vote for these
For solo trips I split them in half. Tons of really good stuff you can add to them for a quick meal

Don't get caught with those tractors before you have a chance to eat them, don't want any fines. Lol. Got to "love" the damn auto spell thing.

We tried the Idahoan ones that come in a bag. You just follow the directions and fry in some butter. We used squeeze parkay. They were really good and will be a staple every year now!

Forgot to add if you split them double bag them. I've even taken to adding a heavy paper towel to protect the bag from the hard SHARP potato's from poking holes in the bags
