Fruit Cake Cookies revisited....

Decided to make a another batch today.
This is the link to the original recipe

Fruitcake Cookie recipe

Note: misspelling for cloves/nutmeg...should be tspn

My first batch seemed to have too much fruit and on the tacky side.
This batch I added an additional 3/4 cup flour.
used only 1/2# of candied fruit
I didn't have any chopped dates so I used craisons instead
also no white wine but did have blackberry flavored wine.
Hey...they turned out pretty decent.
might even give some away to some unsuspecting person.

Being that time of year I thought I would bring up the thread about fruitcake cookies.

I just got my hands on a real fruit cake the other day. dark and heavy with a slight wiff of rum. Dried fruits and nuts and no atomic colored stuff in sight. A thick slice in the cast iron warmed and slightly toasted in the cast iron pan with a scoop of mascarpone cheese on top that I made last night

Not to get of subject, but make a batch of these for every trip. They've replaced the various bars we use to buy and take. Highly recommended. Of course I'm in the 1 percenter class - who likes fruitcake.

All good choices, but a hot buttered rum or a spiked hot apple cider and even a warm homemade blackberry brandy would be what I would be serving..........lol
