I've done the trip you just did so could relate to that too. One thing about the hammock - look into using a small sheet of clear thick plastic under you as a ground tarp. It's great for when it's wet and also lets you step out in your socks and not worry. My sheet is approx. 4X5 ft'. You want it clear or white so you can see the dirt on it. I'm impressed that you pulled over during a day trip to cook a walleye. I did that with a trout once on a travel day just bc I never had eaten lake trout before. Watched some of your video. A beer! Great idea for the first day. What did you use to shoot the video? The mic was too good to be a go pro. Well, you seem really stoked to have a new set up and I'm sure you will be taking many more trips with it. BTW, my solo is probably 55-60lbs so I can relate to that as well. The autumn Mist is a great boat. Have fun! |

I love that area. We heard that same sound you described one year on Kawasachong and had no idea what it was... I was like... that's way big and splashy to be a bull frog. Figured out later it was a moose. |

Are we looking at the same landing? That’s crazy. How were the portage’s when you came through. I thought they were very easy |

Ajoutdoors: " Yep, looks like someone used that dead tree as more firewood since you could walk to it on dry land. Here's what the rapids looked like with the huge boulder between Malberg and Koma. Definitely not one I'd run. And here's what the Louse R. coming into Malberg looked like right next to that campsite. Just one lone boulder peeking above the water. We had the pond in the middle of the Malberg NW portage but the mud you experienced at the end was all under water and wasn't too bad of a landing. The portages from EP to Malberg were all pretty good but it had rained all day the day before we went in so they were wet. Looks like your river travel wasn't too bad, I figured if the lake was that low the river stretches would be a slog. |

I used a GoPro hero 5. The audio is good when there is no other noise but I feel it’s terrible in the canoe, picks up everything, lily pads, paddles, water bottle etc. I may look into an external mic or trying to tape over some of the mics to stop the ambient noise. |

I agree on the out and back, it all looks different headed the other way. |
