Thanks, Boonie, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
One definitely needs to look at the map carefully and utilize a compass for Snipe Lake. It's easy to get turned around! :)

What a fun first trip. Loved the video. We took our kids on their first overnight trip to the same campsite more than a decade ago. So fun to see other kids loving it too! Snipe is such a pretty little lake and quiet for how close to entry points it is. Thanks for sharing!

Fun! Great video. I am in total agreement with your daughter, "It is gorgeous!" I always love seeing young kids get introduced to the wonders of the BWCA.

Last summer we stayed at that same site on Snipe the first night and the last night of our week long trip. We didn't have any luck fishing from that shore either. I loved Snipe, beautiful lake that most people pass by on Missing Link to Tuscarora or heading from Cross Bay Lake down to Long Island Lake so it was amazingly quiet for a lake so close to 2 entry points.

Enjoyed your video! Happy Father's Day! It looked like the kids were enjoying the experience.

I've stayed on Snipe several times. It's a very pretty lake that I like, and often not that busy. I've been "confused" there, too, after looking around while paddling.

Thanks for sharing.

We're headed to the same place next week (aiming for the Cross Bay site, but glad to hear the recommendation on the Snipe Lake back up). We've been stressing about shoe options for our kids (5 boys between 10 and 16) and of course, there are lots of opinions. Wanted your thought as a family taking kids out for the first time and not necessarily wanting to pick up a bunch of new gear. We are planning a base camp as well, so we'd only probably be doing the portages you did. Thanks ahead of time.

I agree! Snipe Lake is a nice hidden gem, but if you're looking for a fishing trip, it may not be the best choice. However, it is a very beautiful lake with many inlets and islands and you may have the entire lake to yourself!
