My wife has been hounding me to go get a kayak for a couple of years now. So yesterday I bought one. She has had a Old Town kayak for two years and uses it on our lake. I have rented them in the past but now we want to use them when we travel with our camper. I will be using it for fishing on our lake too. There are places I can’t go with my big boat and this will be able to get to. I’m really excited to this new sport and all that goes with it. Next is a new depth finder, mounts for gear, etc.

Looking forward to learn from all of you about kayaks.

There are so many kinds of kayaks all there is to know is just not an option. Your experience in what you can carry down to the water unless you use a trailer and what you will use it for in the water is all you need to know. Along with how far you want to paddle (how fast you can go) and all that other stuff.
My partner paddles a 13 foot rec kayak and I paddle my Magic, we get along pretty well on small lakes.

Oops, I corrected my post. Yes I bought one. I looked and found out there is not much out there to buy in stores yet. Online inventory at kayak manufacturing places are low too. People are buying these as fast as they make then. I suppose this has a lot to do with Covid and people want to be outdoors, raw material and labor is scarce because or the times. Anyway I found one and it’s coming from a dealer near where they make these in Maine.
