Drove a loop from Duluth to Normanna to Greenwood Lake to Finland to Hwy 61 and back home last week. The only evidence of deer I saw was a forkhorn looking for love along 61 at 10 in the morning. Lots of evidence of grouse hunters and a fair number of wolf tracks.

Anybody else planning to hunt deer in or near the Boundary Waters? I know I will be.

Was in Isabella area couple weeks ago only saw moose tracks, no deer sign around that I saw. Not many deer north of Finland ive ever seen. I'm sure there few but a lot of work to scout to find good area.

One set of deer tracks in 5 days. A couple of wolf tracks one day and lots of wolf tracks today.
Moving to a new area.

We had that snowfall in October. The very next morning, I drove 70 miles of forest road on the wheeler grouse hunting and looking for deer tracks off and around Hwy 2 and 15/16.
I saw one set of deer tracks...one set!!! Wolf tracks, moose tracks, grouse tracks, other small animal tracks, but only one set of deer tracks.

Yep - 2023 Harvest Statistics for Zone 131 were 19 deer. That's it - huge zone and 19 deer were shot.
