I am contemplating a 10 day trip in early June. Does anyone have a guess as to what I can expect to encounter with black flies and/or other bugs?

Thanks,
Don

So many factors:
Last year was very dry meaning less for the spring population.
A hard freeze, one that puts a skin of ice, really sets them back.
I have found Black Fly issues mostly near moving water and spotty elsewhere.
3 trips early June and the bugs were not an issue in WCPP.
Discount all tales from 2008-2009, very wet years and the bugs were bad.

Thanks much. I might add this will be my first trip with a bucket. I have enjoyed your videos immensely.

My buddy and I did an early trip into Algonquin one year and the blackflys were off the chart. I have an extremely high bug tolerance but my buddy started to panic before we even got our boat loaded.........."Gib, what are we going to do"!! I will never forget the panic in his voice.

I suggested he put on his Original Bug shirt which I had insisted that he purchase before agreeing to take him. "Oh yea" was his reply. It literally saved our trip as he was fair skinned and welted up when bit.

Original bug shirt.........dont leave home without it. I like wearing it even when bugs arent around.
