Maps will be available at Canoecopia at the Ontario Park booth and the Red Lake Outfitters booth (new outfitter in town). Yes Doug Gilmore, park superintendent will be in attendance at Canoecopia and I will be attending the Outdoor Adventure Expo in Minneapolis in April. We always look forward to meeting park visitors at these shows. See yous there. |

There is no direct access to the Rowdy/Sydney Lakes. But one can paddle in via Roger Lake south of Rowdy. Because this is outside the park and accessing a newly added area of the park, we have virtually no details about this route at this time. |

quote Longpaddler: "Are there commercially available maps out there? I'm thinking like the Fischer or McKenzie maps...or even the Trails Illustrated or Nat'l Geographic maps you can get in outdoor stores. The one(s) online that I've seen are not suitable for trip planning." LongPaddler, No there are not really commercially available maps like Fischer, McKenzie, etc. Like kanoes said, you can order topo's but you need to know what your route is before you order them so you get the right topo. email me and I can explain if you want some help. I would order the basic park map they are about $14-$15 or so and you can use for planning and also some tripping but not detailed like maps you are accustomed to. Call the park office to order, they will take your ccard number and mail it right to your door. I actually used this map for my tripping in conjuction with the topo's. I took the map from the park office to office max and Blew up the routes I was using to make it easier to follow and put it in my CCS Map Case to keep them dry. Worked like a champ. SunCatcher |

There is a lot of Great Information in this Guide. It is from 2010 so some of the information will be different for 2011 and beyond. You can call the park headquarters and talk to Doug Gilmore or Claire Quewezence, or someone else in the office. You can order a park map from them which shows the whole park and the portages and the distances in Meter's. SunCatcher |

Longlegged Rd starts at Ear Falls and will lead you to the Leano Access point in the south... it can be in rough shape. Best get a road condition change before traveling this road. It takes one a little over 2 hrs to drive from Ear Falls to Leano on this road. Most folks will drive the extra 45minute up Hwy 105 from Ear Falls to Red Lake, pick up last minute supplies, or stay one night in Red Lake, drop in the park office for changes perhaps, and from here it is 1 1/2 hrs to the Leano Access in the south end of the park. Park e-mail address is woodland.caribou.mnr@ontario.ca to request a road map and any other brochures and fact sheet you may want via e-mail. The 2011 Information Guide (newsletter) will be available this week." |
