he does a few talks each summer up on the gunflint trail. he's a very captivating speaker! if it's a scheduled one hour talk it will go by BAM! just like that and you'll be longing for more. he usually stays at Cross River Lodge on Gunflint Lake when he's in that area.


check out the summer schedule for Chik-Wauk Lodge and Nature Center, he might be listed.

Bumping a rather old post, but I just spent some time reading and watching vids about this railway and was fascinated. Had no idea a train went right up near Tuscarora Lodge/Round Lake Road and that there was a small "town" called Gunflint City. Very interesting.

My current historical fascination is with Minnesota’s oldest roads. Next time I go north to Duluth from the East Metro I’m taking the remnants of the old Point Douglas to Superior military road. Some of the earliest pioneers of the Twin Ports got there that way.
