We launched at Mudro and took Sandpit into Basswood and paddled seemingly forever before taking the Basswood Falls portages down to Lower Basswood falls and ultimately Crooked. We originally took this route because the Horse river was too low, but looking forward I think this is the only way to go into Crooked as long as there isn't a strong south or east wind. There is extra paddling, but the shorter portages pay dividends when you're packing a lot of weight it.
The weather was a little wet and cloudy, but the winds were low which helped with navigating. Per usual the fishing was superb and we only saw 2 other paddlers on our 3 full days on the lake.
Anyways - as the title states we found a necklace on one of the campsites at Crooked and I wanted to take a shot in the dark to see if anyone lost the necklace. I can mail it to you if you provide me a brief description of the necklace and tell me what campsite you might have lost it at. It doesn't look expensive, but maybe it has sentimental value?
