Entry Point 24 - Fall Lake

Fall Lake entry point allows overnight paddle or motor (25 HP max). This entry point is supported by Kawishiwi Ranger Station near the city of Ely, MN. The distance from ranger station to entry point is 7 miles. "Access is a boat landing at Fall Lake. Several trip options to Newton, Basswood, & Mud Lakes with additionalportages." This area was affected by blowdown in 1999.

Trip Introduction:
This was my introduction to the BWCA. After many canoe trips in UK it was a dream to do this in Minnesota. Incredibly I was able to tag along by invite on a trip planned by friends of a close friend and it was brilliantly planned. It could not have been any better. It was a 5 day trip from the outfitters ( LaTourell’s #25, they were just amazing) and although I don’t have full records of where we were at any given time, my Garmin recorded it all and I have Relive links to post.

Just had the best canoe trip of my life in the BWCA. 5 days trip with a great set of friends and outstanding planning and organisers. My old trail shoes were perfection for both in canoe, wading and portage. Thanks for the brilliant advice about shoes, clothes, permethrin I received from this forum. This was my first Kevlar canoe experience too, so I shall be looking to get a 16” at some point soon.

The trip could not have been any better and I hope to return to the BWCA.
