Friday July 3, 2009. When we woke up we saw a something strange in the sky and we thought maybe it was a UFO..no wait it was the sun. What a wonderful site and our spirits were lifted . After a hot breakfast of oatmeal we were off to Polaris. It took about 45 minutes of paddling to get there and on the way we heard something crack and looked over at an island next to us just in time to see a tree fall that a beaver had chewed off.
After a steep but short portage into Polaris we paddled to the east end of the lake and found a waterfalls from an unnamed lake and found the fishing to be very good. 1st cast brought a nice 30 inch northern to the canoe. Caught several smallies in the area had lunch while sitting on a rock in the middle of the falls.
Fished for a little longer and headed back to the portage and our camp. Fished on the way back to camp and caught a few more fish. After a dinner of shrimp primervera and green beans and rice pudding we cleaned up and took some final pictures and went to the tent to listen to the mosquitoes swarm outside. We talk about the trip and what we have done the last week and where will go next trip.
