"U da Man Steve" comes around 6:30 so we can break camp and get a couple hours on Sunday Lake before making our noon tow. Camp goes down pretty easy and I enjoy my last victory and cup of coffee out by the lake. Always a weird feeling on the last day. Excited to see Jess and the boys, but bummed that the trip is ending.

We are on the water before 9 and slowly troll Sunday Lake. Pete's sacrifices to the wind gods pays off as the wind is at our backs. I hit a nice size Laker right away. I get a little guy trolling through 200 feet of water (30 feet down with a tail dancer) and land probably my biggest Laker (4+ lbs) right at the end. Not Louisa like action, but steady enough to keep Steve and I busy.

The portage and paddle back to Prairie Portage goes quick. Packs are lighter and the wind is at our back. We meet our tow 30 minutes early, pack up at the outfitter and do a little shopping in Ely. Steve elects to hit Zups for some stuffed pork chops, Greg and I hit Piragis for some kiddy gifts. What a great trip! I learned quite a bit from the salty vets on not only lake trout, but ideas on how they camp. This will definitely be a return trip for me in the Spring. I know Garlock would get a huge kick out of the fishing and might make for a nice Friday, Saturday, Sunday trip every spring.
