Trip Introduction:
Towed in by Seagull outfitters. Base camped at south end of Red Rock lake. We had to pinch ourselves often because we could not believe there were next to no bugs in May! Paddled down to Jasper through the burnt, once beautiful Alpine lake to see the falls that the nice guy we were towed in with told us about (I call him Mr. Stevens Point - never got his name). On the way back saw momma moose with her very cute reddish baby - a baby was a 1st for us. We fished very little due to fear of sunburn (daughter light skinned) but when the clouds finally came, we went to the narrows just to the south of the campsite and my daughter caught a couple of nice walleyes (& a few small northerns). I was too busy untangling the net from the rappela that I didn't get to fish much but she was having a ball. I did get a nice walleye from shore the night before. It was over 85 degrees 3 times in the week. We figured out there was a sandbar not too far down the shoreline and we did take advantage of the unusually warm water. My stove died 2nd day but I've never seen so much dry firewood and it didn't really rain but there was a wind burst on Wed. that took down trees @ Trails End campground but only about 35mph for us. We loved the spruce grouse, merlins, eagles, frogs, turtle, snapping turtle, beaver, pine martin, plentiful dragon flies, bats, butterflies, none threatening bees, dancing loons, fireflies, and the wildflowers.
I give this trip an A !!!
