Day Six – Time to fish!
We got up late and had a quick breakfast. I did dishes so John could set up the rods again. We had been told of a good spot in the lake between ‘our’ campsite and large, partially burnt island to the north of us. It definitely was good! We made 5 passes, two of them into the wind. I got four lakers and John got two. Unfortunately, we each lost one but 3 decent sized lake trout still made for a great dinner! John cleaned them, I filled them with dried veggies and spices, wrapped them in heavy foil and baked them on the grate over the fire. Just half an hour later they were done and we were dining like royalty, mmm! What an easy clean up too. We mixed up a couple cocktails and read some more about the Wahoo while waiting for the Bears/Vikings game to start on the small Grundig radio we had brought along. It almost felt like a date, a night out on the town! Right after the game ended we crawled into our sleeping bags and went to sleep.
