Day Eight – heading back home

The wind was not bad on our last day so we paddled across Bayley with good speed. Our tow pick up was to be at 11:30, but we made it there by 10 am. I decided to visit the Quetico store at Prairie Portage. I was hoping that Sally Burns, one of the personnel I met there two years ago, was there again. I stepped in and she recognized me almost right away. We had a great talk, discussing pictographs and ones I had seen that she hadn’t and visa versa. I bought a nice Quetico shirt and T shirt then told her good bye and made my way back to the U.S. side and waited for the towboat.

The towboat was right on time, as usual. As we made our way down the Moose Lake chain the driver spotted a couple deer, one female and one buck, swimming at a good clip, across Newfound Lake. He pulled near so we could take some pictures, but not so near as to panic them. Soon we were back at North Country Lodge where my son-in-law/employee, Jon (JB) was waiting for us to take us back home.
