Thursday, August 04, 2011 We stayed two nights on Minn but ,today, we would take the short portage to McAree to get into some fish. We were not disappointed with nice walleyes caught soon upon pulling plugs. We trolled McAree's north basin as the southwest wind continued to build. My daughter wanted to see McAree Rapids so we checked them out before we headed back to our campsite on Minn with the wind at our backs.

While 3 of us were on this mission to catch lunch, my wife stayed behind with the dog. Shortly after our departure, she heard a noise behind her from where she was reading. A pine marten had come into camp hunting the abundant red squirrels. The marten spotted her and headed up the tree.

We had a nice fish lunch and read our books as the wind continued into the evening.
