Quetico 2013

I was pretty excited as today we were going to see the pictographs. However by the time we left that morning we had a pretty strong head wind, which always makes me a little uneasy with the dogs. They didn’t flinch!
We decided to push through to Cirrus as we had seen on my older maps that there was possibly a beach on Cirrus and Dee was pretty excited as we were going to “base” camp there for 2 nights.
On our way there Derek’s paddle started wearing thin through the strong head wind and needed a little more repair. We improvised and used tent pegs as a splint and of course….more ductape!
One good thing about the wind, once we started heading east on Cirrus we were finally able to start using our Windsail, good thing too as Derek’s paddle needed a break!
Found the hidden gem of a beach on Cirrus Lake and to our disbelief it did not appear to have been frequented as the site was small, but we made due. Had a great couple of very relaxing days on the beach. Derek played with the sail, did some fishing, relaxed in our new hammock, went swimming and enjoyed a “couple” more tetra packs of wine!
