Thursday, June 23, 2016 Again up early, sleeping great (probably bed time ~10PM? who knows). Feel great. I was made to do this. It's in the 40's according to the thermometers we have. I love it. Running around in shorts and a fleece. Oh wait, is today the portage day? It is. We are portaging from Olifaunt to Fern, and from what I have heard, this portage is long and it is a feat to do it without stopping. So, you know me, never to back down from a challenge... by now we have mastered securing all our gear, balancing the canoe, everything. We load up all our gear and agree we are doing this in one trip. Off we go! This is cake. 25 min later or so, we come out into the sunshine and walk straight into the lake and drop the canoe into the water to ready for the voyage. Nice and muddy here I should add... I got my first leech! Nice. But onto the B-chain! Beg, Bud and Bisk. Let me tell you, this was the best fishing day for non-stop action. These lakes were loaded and it was a blast paddling through them and fishing. We are confident now we can stop anywhere and camp and can adjust our paddling pace accordingly. So we fish ALL DAY - like, sun is going down, oh crap, find a camp site. I should add that I moved a 40"+ pike at the top of Beg right above the falls on a fluke. She followed it like a freight train and I could not get her to bite for the life of me, stopping it, etc. We camped right between lakes and called it a night. So beautiful.
