Thursday, July 05, 2018 - Infinite Bay Gluttony

After breakfast, we head back out to our little bay and continue to catch one pike after another. We had one fishing reel “give up” on us along with one rod that also threw in the towel.

We did a little exploring down the main river channel and found a spot where the river took a hard turn and the bank was actually a bit “sandy”. We killed a few hours here swimming and had a campfire.

While we never actually saw a bear during our 12 days on the river, with the hard mud shoreline, tracks from bear and moose were literally everywhere; it was apparent that there were lots of both animals out here with us.

My brother Steve catches a nice 19.4 lbs northern pike and gets extremely muddy trying to land the fish on shore. While getting a weight on the fish, it flips, hits my son, and knocks him flat down into the mud. I pick up a 44” northern that goes 22 lbs and ends up being the largest pike of the trip. We end the day with 37 pike over 10 lbs and we decide to name the slough “infinite bay” because we cannot seem to stop catching pike in this small bay.
