City Spring LTD in Edmonton Alberta is a huge help and puts our trailer at the front of the line for repairs. Two hours later we are back on the road with perfectly working trailer brakes, as well as a 1st class emergency kit with extra wheel bearings and extra spring shackles just in case we run into problems on the Alcan Highway were service can be a long, long ways away. While we had no problem going 1,000 miles with no trailer brakes across central Canada, I did not want to cross the Canadian Rocky Mountains without fully functional brakes.
We stop at the popular “big beaver” for a photo opportunity. The boys are also most excited to learn that the legal drinking age in Alberta is 18 years old; both buy a single bear while in Edmonton.
We drive through some torrential rains and end up sleeping in a muddy pull-off at the side of the road; it gets cold at night (low 40’s).
